As many of you know my brother in law is LDS and is also in a beer commercial airing right now. For any of you that would like to comment or take offense to this let me just say a couple things.
I love Kirby like I love any member of my family. He's so caring about his kids and wife that I wish every dad could be more like him. Every minute he isn't working he is playing pretend with his son or pushing his daughter in a swing. He attends church and faithfully fulfills a calling. He has a testimony that shows in his every action. I look up to him and respect him so much.
Here is the situation as I see it. My sister is pregnant expecting in September (yay!).
They need a bigger house and have been renting ever since they moved to California.
Kirby doesn't make huge amounts of money but they do well enough that they are able to sustain themselves in the expensive state of California right? I'm sure with the baby on the way they have prayed for opportunities for Kirby to support the family.
Am I so narrow sighted that I couldn't consider the beer commercial opportunity an answer to prayer?
It all boils down to this... Is he still as worthy to enter the temple as he was before he did this commercial? YES For me that's all I would need to know.
What is sad is that people would attack Kirby for his choice. If his testimony really were lacking or if he was really having a hard time getting work, why would people who profess living better and making the best choice attack and publicly denounce him and his actions? I think this is truly a case of "he who is without sin cast the first stone" but since he is "famous" he should be perfect in all of his choices so he is a good role model, right? Well, he didn't ask to be a role model and if anyone wants to show true concern for him, I welcome your comments.

I think Kirby is the man! I thought the commercial was funny and good exposure for him. I highly respect him as well, though I've only met him like twice. But from all the stuff you've said about him and what I saw of his fatherly attributes. He's a good LDS man. Great post Kimi. You rock.
Scott
ditto to my sis. I was about to make the same post. Kirby is a great and worthy man and i love him to death(he's my chin chopper amigo!). people should look at all the aspects before they judge. Peace-n-Love ya'll... Peace-n-Love!
I completely agree with you! I haven't seen the commercial, however I trust Kirby. Ever since the 3rd grade and he sang Horton I have looked up to him. He is a great guy! You are lucky to have him for a brother in law!
You go, girl!
I so agree!! Kirby is a great and wonderful husband and father!! I am so happy that my sister found him and my neice and nephew have him for a father! People really need to stop judging and just worry about themselves.
You say it girlfriend!!! Way to put those people in their places. :)
Hi Kimmi, my name is Aaron and I am Alli Kogelshatz' brother-in-law. Alli and Cory told me about the message on your blog and I was curious to read it. My sister Holly served on seminary council with Kirby and she always respected him. I love his movies (especially Singles Ward) and this commercial doesn't bother me whatsoever. Thanks for publicly sharing your opinion about this.
I forgot to thank you for letting us borrow the forearm forklifts to help Alli and Cory move. They work awesome!!
