Love

For Enrichment Night this next week I am going to be teaching a short course on the book "The Five Languages." I think this book is very interesting and if you haven't already I think you take the quiz located here www.5lovelanguages.com/assessments . It basically says there are different ways that people show love and recognise that someone loves them. For example some people appreciate notes and when people tell them that they love them and they make sure that they say it a lot. However, some people may find words embarrassing and focus more on getting really thoughtful gifts and cherish gifts that are really thoughtful and meaningful. Anyway it is a lot of fun so if you wanna take the quiz make sure you tell me what love language you are!

She woke up and was so cute I had to grab some quick pics and some video of her new razzin trick (i.e. blowing spit in imitation of my lip rumbling that she likes).

How in the world?

Parents out there I need help! My little girl has started to not sleep unless we are touching her (holding her or rubbing her back). I've tried letting her cry to sleep. I've even let her cry for like thirty minutes and then I go in say "shhh" and rub her back and she'll be gone. How do you teach a baby to self soothe? To calm herself down when she's tired? I never put her down crying, I put her down after I notice her yawning and I do spend some time with her rocking her and singing. But then three minutes after I've put her down she starts crying and wont fall asleep til I'm back in there. She's three months now and the books are making me feel bad that she hasn't already mastered this and I have been trying, I really have.

Class Act

I have so much more respect for Conan now that I have seen his last episode. Not that I didn't respect him before but to have him call out the young people to not be cynical, to have him thank NBC for the years he had had there and to thank people for their support of him. He didn't show any sense of entitlement or pride. He was nothing but respectful. That doesn't happen very often anymore. When someone doesn't get what they want they throw fits, demand more, dig in their heels and make life miserable for others. He made sure his staff was taken care of, he's been thankful for his time at the show and recognized that he has been very lucky in his life. What a down to earth great guy.
